Done with this book! It was amazing! Many people say that its nothing like the movie well i think the same!
In the end, ms.gruwell the english teacher changed all of her students life including Eva. At the end of freshman year it was time for the class to move on, and find a new english teacher. But the students were not okay with it. After all they've been trough , they finally learned to trust and believe in themselves thanks to one person, and that person was going to be replaced by another person! When ms.G announced the news to the class they were not satisfied at all. But ms.G had her hands tied behind her back and could not do anything as she was told. When the students poured their heart out to her she realized she could not let them go. She directly went to the school board, and by what it seemed she wouldnt be able to teach them anymore, so she thought. After her meeting she went and met up with her students. In the park the students started saying "hey there go ms.G" everyone gathered around her waiting for the news. They asked "so are you going to be our teacher next year?" She replied with a nod, and you could hear the shock and sadness in their voices, until ms.G said " were going to be together , sophmore, junior and senior year" you could feel te love and the joy from everyone.
And thanks to her some her students were the first to graduate from highschool and even go to college, and she followed her students there.
If you guys are wondering what happened to Eva. Well she doesnt live with her mom anymore, and her father doesn't talk to her anymore. And she is off to college. Today these students have their life mostly together. They are around their 30's right now and most of them have kids and focuse alot on the foundation to help kids in the ghetto.
                  By what they say , life is hard. But you have to keep fighting to make your dreams come true. Some of them even said " if I didn;t try or fight to get to where i am today, I would be dead or in jail, keep fighting".
      This is so inspiring I have to say. Life is as beautiful as you make it! So live it up!!! ( believe in yourself and in your future.)

Eva's story

                Eva is a young 14 year old girl. In our young lives, we think we've lived the hardest drama's ever in this world. But my life, our lives. She is as she says " Latina". growing up in the projects has been a war since day one. When she was 6 she started learning how to box or how she says" defend myself from those kinds". One day, while waiting for school, she goes outside. While waving at her next door neighbor, two gun shots were fired into his head. why? We wonder. After witnessing this. how could the day of a 6 year old girl get any worse? While going back inside the police come in and arrest her father as she says " mi padre is innocent, the WHITE police took him away because he was respected by my people. that is the only reason. A war has been decleared".
                  After a few years, she was initiated into "the gang llife" as they say "mi nueva  familia", they do not care if you cannot breath, or if you end up at the hospital as soon as you get out your one of them. School has just started and she finds herself in this "dump". Because of her race everything has to be hard. Going in to school she notices that school is just like a city and a city is just like a prison. Everyday is hell. coming into her new english class she meets her new teacher Ms. Gruwell.
          When sitting down she notices that just like outside the classroom is seperated. You have your latino's, china town, the ghetto, and a white kid. " Im only in here because of my probation officer". Her hathred for white people grows more and more day by day, remembering her father's arrest, and now having a white teacher does not help. You cannot walk these streets without the fear of it being your last day walking, or without having a gun or knife on you. While walking to school with her boyfriend, the fear vanishes, but in a second she starts running for her life, why ? she is being chased by members of another race. Her boyfriend pulls out a gun and a shoot out starts.
            Getting to school is one challenge, surviving it is another. While others are being initiated into the gang life they have to tresspass another's territory just like it was walking trough a medow "a war has been declared". One day while in school, the alarm bell rings , there is a fight in the court yard, every race against every race. But the war has just started. While shopping at the drug store, the war is still bruwing. The young Black men that tresspaced the latino's territory is there, after a brief call, gun shots start to fire, the owner of the store " chinese men" is killed and the young black male is arrested. With Eva being a witnessed she is asked for trial. many families wonder what happened but only she knows what really happened, either she tells the truth and dangers the life of her people, or lies and keeps the alliance. After visiting her father she knows what she has to do, lie and protect her people just like her father. At the trial, the division is more than visible. On the stand is Eva and watching her is her mom and her gang , on the other the victims family and right next to them is the " killers" family. While being asked she says " i know who did it" looking around wondering what she should actually do, she decides to tell the truth " Paco did it ", by saying the truth she is in danger, but knowing that she did the right thing makes her feel much better.
                     After the trial while thinking that she does npt have a familuy, her classmates who were once divided, came together and showed her that they are her family and that she will never be alone.

                         When you think that your life is hard, think again! After reading the diaries of these students, going trough hell everyday in their short 14 or 15 years of life, I think of how lucky I am. But i was wondering if they ever had one good memory of their life, because the complains went on and on.
            But none of them said anything good until their new english teacher Ms. Gruwell. For example this young girl named Eva, she is only 14 and has seen her father be taken to jail, her good friends getting shot at and also having to carry herself a gun. When I was 14 my biggest drama was not having the right outfit! In her life she has witnessed the separation of race, asians on one side, the blacks "ghetto" on another, the whites "rich" , and the latinos (Eva). By one passing another's territory is a declared war thats why they call it "la vida loca".
               When I hear these kids talk about territory. I didn't really understand why it was so important to them. They are kids not animals. But after many explanations, I understood that it was their way of respectiong and showing others that it was their place their home no ones else's.

                           This book explains the life of young kids living in long beach. life for others might be compared to a paradise, but the place they call home is "the ghetto" or "the projects".  When people say they know what your going through they really don't, and these kids might compare their life to a war or hell. but because of a strong teacher they learn nothing is ever as bad as it seems and that as long as you believe things can change things will change, but you have to be ready to make the first step.
